Baby Tug-O-War

One of our homeschool activities combines reading literature and service. Once a week, we have been reading to a group of residents at a nursing home near our home. The residents are so happy to have the kids read to them each week. Aleesia is especially good at oration. Grant gets offers of kisses each week by the older ladies. One of the more animated residents has been particularly enamored by Vivian. At one of our weekly visits, she asked to hold the baby. I obliged and placed her in the woman's lap. I kept a firm grasp on her, as I wasn't sure if the lady would hold her tight enough and not drop her. After a few minutes, I began to take Vivian back. To my dismay, I couldn't. I looked down to see the lady holding tightly to Vivian's chubby legs and smiling from ear to ear. "My baby!" she said. "My baby!" At first, I laughed, thinking it was all a big tease, but it went on for more than a minute or two. One of the workers noticed the baby tug of war and came over to help convince the lady to let go of the baby.  After a few minutes, we were able to pry Vivian from the grinning nursing home resident's grasp, but I learned not to do that again.:)
